Describe your current work/practice in one sentence.

At times it is unexpected, curious and other times it is pragmatic, designed to be accessible to a wider audience.

What are three things/ideas that inspire you?

Vernacular architecture, everyday objects, light + space (Turrell, Elliason).

What other things do you do besides your jewellery practice?

I teach at OCAD University in the Jewellery program, with a focus on complimenting analog techniques with digital design processes.

There are two.

Deconstructed Terrazzo earrings because they pay homage to the humble composite aggregate that is often made with chips of marble, granite, quartz, porcelain, glass. These materials are mixed with a binder while I have deconstructed the “chips” by using precious and semi-precious gems with acrylic.

Rosebud rings because the process of free-forming remains evident in the final piece.

What is a favourite piece that you’ve made and why?

What word pops into your mind when you think of Canadian art jewellery?

I’ll be exhibiting a prototype as part of Umbra’s Work/Life exhibition during Design T.O. in January 2020.

What is coming up next for you?
